Swiss airline Edelweiss launches direct flights to Havana from Switzerland

The European airline Edelweiss began direct flights this week with the "José Martí" International Airport in Havana from the Swiss city of Zurich, opening a new route, every Thursday in July, Zurich-Havana-Zurich, according to official sources.

According to the report, Switzerland has always been among the top 25 countries sending tourists to Cuba in recent years and ranked 10th and 11th from Europe. Oscar Henríquez, a Cuban tourism official, added that these new weekly flights from Switzerland point to "the favorable level of competitiveness of the Cuban tourist destination" in the Caribbean.

To the Cuban capital, numerous flights arrive daily this month from the so-called "Old Continent." In addition to connections from Spain, where most flights appear with airlines such as Iberia, Air Europa, Iberojet, or World2fly leading the way, flights also arrive from other cities and countries.

Flights to Cuba in July

For example, there are flights from Turkey, Italy with the company Neos, the German Condor from Frankfurt, the French Air France, among many others. In addition to Havana, several European companies also fly to the tourist hubs of Varadero and Santiago de Cuba. The national Cuban airline Cubana de Aviación also has connections from Madrid and Barcelona to various cities on the island.
