What will happen to the validity of documents legalized by the MINREX after the transfer of its legalization functions to the Ministry of Justice (MINJUS)? Officials clarify the matter.

The process of document legalization in Cuba underwent a significant change with the transfer of these functions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex) to the Ministry of Justice (Minjus).

However, this administrative change does not affect the validity of the documents already legalized nor does it modify the procedure for citizens who require this service, the media assured. Cubadebate 

Camilo Pascual Vizcaíno, president of the Legal Services Corporate Group of the Minjus, clarified that the transition does not imply changes in the effects of previously legalized documents.

He assured that the measure responds to the need to optimize and centralize the process in a specialized entity, ensuring better organization and greater efficiency in the services.

Validity of document legalization in Cuba

This change, formalized on February 3, aims to integrate and facilitate the legalization of Cuban and foreign documents both for use within the national territory and abroad.

How to do the legalizations now? Well, just as they were done before, the execution of this procedure will continue. from the registration entities, law firms, and consultancies, as well as from the legalization unit.

In response to possible concerns from the public, Pascual Vizcaíno emphasized that the Minjus assumes this new responsibility with the commitment to maintain the quality standards that characterize this administration and, if possible, improve response times and service efficiency.

To ensure uninterrupted continuity, the Ministry of Justice and the International Law Firms Group "Legal Services S.A." have implemented the necessary measures for a smooth transition, they said.

With this integration, it is expected that the legalization process to be more accessible and efficient for the citizens," they concluded regarding the validity of the documents legalized by the Minrex and the current changes.
