Habana: planifican calendario de apagones hasta el 23 de marzo. Continuará la crisis

Authorities of the Electric Company in Havana, the Cuban capital, reported on the planning of the schedule of blackouts starting today and until March 23, despite the recent recovery of the National Electric System (SEN). In other words, the crisis will continue for Cubans, with less impact in the capital.

According to the diary capital Tribuna de La Habana, the Empresa Eléctrica anunció a scheduling of disruptions en el suministro eléctrico debido al generation deficit, which will persist despite the fact that Cubans have barely recovered from a general collapse lasting several days.

The planned power outages will take place between the days March 17 and 23, 2025 en diferentes zonas de la ciudad.

The disruptions are scheduled during the hours of 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, distribuyéndose los bloques de apagón de la siguiente manera:

  • Lunes 17: B1
  • Martes 18: B4
  • Miércoles 19: B2
  • Jueves 20: B3
  • Friday 21: B1
  • Saturday 22: B4
  • Domingo 23: B2.

The affected blocks during these schedules vary depending on the day. In general, in Havana, if unforeseen situations occur, a total of six hours would be affected at different times of the day, while in the province there are towns where the blackout lasts for more than 20 hours.

The electrical situation in Cuba is very critical; just this Monday, March 17, the National Electric System (SEN) was restored after its abrupt collapse last Friday, due to a failure at the Diezmero substation in Havana. This incident revealed the weakness of the electrical system, as just a minimal substation in the capital brought down the National System.
