Traveling to Ecuador with a Cuban passport: flights and visa from Cuba in 2025

How can one travel to Ecuador with a Cuban passport in March 2025, besides flights? Below are visa details and flights from the island to the South American country currently.

In the mid-2000s, Ecuador was the mecca of Cuban migration, beyond the United States. With the possibility of a visa-free entry, hundreds of thousands of Antilleans went to that country, started businesses or studied, and with the best salaries, in dollars, they managed to support their families on the island.

According to the Registration Statistical Population Base of Ecuador (REBPE), which contains demographic data of people registered as residents in Ecuador until December 2022, more than 3,000 Cubans were living in that South American country.

Cuban migration to Ecuador experienced significant variations in recent decades. Starting in 2008, the removal of the visa requirement for Cuban citizens facilitated an increase in their arrival to the country.

This change attracted many Cubans who saw Ecuador as an opportunity to improve their living conditions or as a transit point to other destinations, such as the United States, Chile, or Costa Rica; others decided to stay and start their future life there.

Between 2007 and May 2010, there was an increase of 2000 in the Cuban population residing in Ecuador, rising from low figures, around 7,292 people.

Between 2015 and 2017, many of them emigrated to the United States. Again, after the pandemic, this happened once more, and many Cubans in Ecuador, with Biden's opening at the southern border and applications like CBP One, re-emigrated to the United States.
