Aeroflot will incorporate new planes on the Moscow – Havana route

In connection with the strengthening of relations between Cuba and Russia, as well as the announced increase in the arrival of Russian tourists to Cuba, Aeroflot, the main airline of the Eurasian country, plans to include several Airbus A350s starting from September 2020 to connect Moscow with Havana.

The itineraries between both capitals will have a weekly frequency of five days, excluding only Mondays and Wednesdays according to the information released by Simply Flight.

The largest airline of the Russian Federation will continue connecting Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow with the José Martí International Airport from the Cuban capital, a destination that is currently served by older ships.

Thus, the Greater Antilles, which in recent years has shown a notable increase in Russian tourists, is among the destinations chosen by Aeroflot to introduce the new 14 A350 aircraft that this company ordered from the French Airbus.

In fact, some of the schedules on which Aeroflot will operate have already been announced (the time shown is local).

  • (vuelo SU150) Departing from Moscow at 7:10 A.M. will arrive in Havana at 12:40 P.M. on the same day.
  • (vuelo SU151) Departing from Havana at 2:45 P.M. will arrive in Russia at 9:00 A.M. the next day.

Similarly, those connections with a stopover in Moscow, New York, New Delhi in India, Beijing in China, and Seoul in South Korea will be covered from the Cuban capital.

Although Aeroflot had expressed its desire to incorporate the new A350 in 2018, its unexpected financial results delayed the delivery date to 2020. Currently, only a simulation of this aircraft is available for the Flight Simulation game.

Just a few days ago, the opening of a route between Moscow and the Varadero resort was announced, operated by Royal Flight, all due to the unprecedented tourist interest of Russians in the island.

For its part, the Cuban Ministry of Tourism is taking advantage of these circumstances and seeks to attract new Russian clients, who have also shown interest in the Dominican tourist hub.

Aeroflot is one of the oldest airlines in the world, having been founded in 1923 as a state-owned company, later becoming the official airline of the Soviet Union and the largest in the world.

However, after the collapse of the USSR, it became a semi-private company, with most of the shares held by the Russian government, and more than 30,300 employees.

Whoever includes new aircraft right now is aligned with a comprehensive modernization program for our fleet, a rebranding, as well as the addition of new destinations.
