Since the General Customs of the Republic of Cuba authorized the clearance of combustion motorcycles, Cubans residing on the island have been able to receive these imported vehicles under the regulations of Resolution 364/2024.
This regulatory change allowed the entry of motorcycles and tricycles into the country, facilitating access for those who depend on these means of transportation in the current challenging landscape.
Until now, beneficiaries had to travel to Havana to pick up their imported motorcycles, which involved additional costs and long waits. To speed up this process, the Villa Clara Postal Company has implemented a new motorcycle reception and delivery service in the central region of the country, eliminating the need to travel to the capital.
How does the delivery process work?
This service is available for residents of Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spíritus, and Ciego de Ávila, who can now pick up their motorcycles at the Villa Clara Postal Sorting Center. It is located on Colón Street, between Síndico and Nazareno, in Santa Clara.
Steps to receive the imported motorcycle:
- Availability verification: Once the motorcycle arrives in Cuba and goes through the nationalization process, a tracking number is assigned, which can be checked on the official website of Correos de Cuba. You can also call 59977021 to obtain updated information.
- Customer notification: When the vehicle is ready for delivery, the Postal team contacts the recipient to inform them of the day and time for pickup.
- Presentation at the sorting center: The beneficiary (is personal and non-transferable) must attend with their proper documentation and make the corresponding payment.
- Payment of fees:
- Simple motorcycle: 900 CUP in cash + 262 USD with Classic card (installments may vary depending on the type of vehicle).
- Tricycle or motorcycle with sidecar: higher costs, depending on the model.
- Vehicle registration: After the delivery, the owner would only need to go to the Vehicle Registry to request the license plate and the circulation permit, thus completing the legal process.
Advantages of the new service in Villa Clara
Until now, the delivery of imported motorcycles was only carried out in Havana, which forced many beneficiaries to incur additional transportation and accommodation expenses. With the decentralization of this procedure in the central region, residents of Cienfuegos, Sancti Spíritus, and Ciego de Ávila can pick up their motorcycles in Santa Clara, saving time and money.
Additionally, Correos de Villa Clara has ensured that deliveries are made on the same day the customer is scheduled, avoiding unnecessary delays. However, if the person cannot attend on the scheduled date, they must wait for a new appointment.
What you need to know about Resolution 364/2024
The regulations establish limits and costs for the importation of motorcycles and other light vehicles:
- Electric or hybrid motorcycle without sidecar: 850 USD per unit.
- Combustion or hybrid motorcycle with sidecar: 950 USD per unit.
- Electric or hybrid tricycles with up to six seats or a load capacity of 1000 kg: 550 USD per unit.
- Light trailers up to 750 kg: 300 USD per unit.
- Sidecar for motorcycles: 100 USD per unit.
These regulations aim to organize and optimize the importation of these means of transportation in Cuba, ensuring stricter control over their commercialization and dispatch.
An expanding process
The new postal service in Villa Clara is part of a national plan to decentralize the delivery of imported vehicles. In the coming months, other provinces are expected to implement similar measures, further facilitating access to these vehicles throughout the country.
For information about the arrival of a motorcycle or the pickup process, interested parties can call 59977021 and receive guidance on the next steps to follow.
I have been waiting for the motorcycle for more than 2 months and now they are making up stories that they are giving them out in Holguín, that they are taking them to Villa Clara. Of course, they made a deal for themselves to take them there to charge more money, and I wonder where my motorcycle is. I am from Havana and they don't even have the decency to call and say when I can pick up my motorcycle. Yes, because it seems like it belongs to customs. Until when will this disrespect continue in this country?
and Camagüey ⁉️??
I would like to know what the requirements are to carry out this import and from which places the import is allowed.
Good afternoon, this route would be better with more control and the comfort of not traveling to Havana. Regards
