With the end of the year just around the corner, the informal market in Cuba could experience movements in exchange rates, influenced by the rise in prices of basic foods such as meat and other essential products.
A seasonal increase would not be unusual due to higher demand for foreign currency, both for purchasing goods in MLC stores and for acquiring essential goods in private businesses.
Although no significant changes in the value of the dollar, the euro, or the MLC have been reported yet, economists do not rule out possible increases in the coming weeks, considering the pressure these fluctuations exert on the domestic economy.
According to the most recent data from El Toque, the exchange rates for this Friday remain stable: the United States dollar (USD) continues at 328 CUP, the euro (EUR) remains at 345 CUP, and the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) remains in 265 CUP.
