The National Electric System (SEN) remains in crisis, with power outages exceeding 20 hours daily in some areas.

According to the official report from the UNE, the electric service was affected from 5:12 a.m. the previous day and remained interrupted throughout the entire night. A maximum impact of 1,736 MW was reported at 6:40 p.m., and the forecasts for today's peak hours indicate a deficit of 1,870 MW.

Current Status of the National Electric System

  • Availability: 1,390 MW
  • Demand: 2,300 MW
  • Current impact: 987 MW
  • Forecast for midday: 1,250 MW affected
  • Estimated deficit for peak hours: 1,800 MW

Outrage and complaints from the population

The situation is alarming, with power outages preventing the cooking of food, the refrigeration of basic products, and nighttime rest. On social media, complaints are constant:

  • There is not a single day without impact, this is for life. They are getting us used to living without electricity.
  • Inhuman everything, children and elderly without food, unable to sleep. This is degrading.
  • If they made an equitable distribution, the suffering would be less. But the capital hardly suffers outages while the rest of the country is in darkness.
  • Cienfuegos has been without power for 24 hours. Who is going to pay for the food that is spoiling?
  • We are becoming magicians: in one hour we have to wash, cook, and iron before he leaves again.
