Empresa Eléctrica de La Habana has announced a schedule of power outages due to a deficit in energy generation. The outages are planned to take place between January 6 and 12, 2025, and will be carried out at defined times for different consumer blocks.
Affectation schedules
The cuts will be made at two main intervals:
- From 10:00 am to 3:00 pm:
- Monday: Block B4
- Tuesday: B3
- Wednesday: B2
- Thursday: B1
- Friday: B4
- Saturday: B3
- Sunday: B2
- From 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm:
- Monday: Block B1
- Tuesday: B4
- Wednesday: B3
- Thursday: B2
- Friday: B1
- Saturday: B4
- Sunday: B3
In case of emergencies, such as unplanned outages of generating plants, an additional program will be activated that includes outages in other blocks.
Current electric service situation
Yesterday, January 5, the electric service was affected from 07:18 to 21:42 hours, especially impacting the central-eastern area due to high energy transfers. The maximum impact was 929 MW at 18:20 hours, coinciding with the hour of highest demand.
Today, January 6, the power supply disruptions began at 06:22 hours and are again concentrated in the central-eastern area. The current availability is 2130 MW compared to a demand of 1850 MW, with 134 MW affected. By midday, it is estimated that the effects will reach 500 MW. During peak hours, the projection is for a maximum demand of 3000 MW and a possible impact of up to 940 MW.
The authorities ask for understanding in this situation and recommend taking measures to minimize the impact of the outages on homes and businesses.
