Starting this Tuesday, significant changes will take effect in one of the most used remittance or money transfer services by those helping family members in Cuba.
Amid increasing reliance on transfers from abroad, many Cubans may notice a difference starting today when sending money from Europe. Sendity has updated its fee structure, which will involve adjustments when calculating the amount to send or receive.
Commissions for money transfers to Cuba increase
According to the company notification to its users, new fees will apply to remittance services to Cuba starting April 1, 2025.
- For cash dollar shipments, the fixed fee increases by 1 euro and an additional 1% is added to the variable fee.
- For deposits on MLC cards, the fixed fee also increases by 1 euro.
These changes do not affect the transparency of the service, assures Sendity. The platform continues to display the exact cost at all times before sending.
Commitment to safety and personalized support
The company emphasizes that, despite the adjustment, it will maintain the quality of its service, personalized support, and the secure and timely delivery of money, without alterations to the exchange rate visible to the user.
Additionally, for new customers, a promotion with a 5 euro discount is active when using the code HOLASENDITY before completing the payment.
Key details for Sendity users
A 100 euro shipment from Europe now translates, with the new rates, into 89 euros converted, with an applied rate of 1 € = 1.07 USD, resulting in 95.59 dollars received at the destination, either on an MLC card or in cash.
Cubans abroad who rely on this type of platform should keep these adjustments in mind, especially those who frequently send shipments to family members on the island.
It's a gesture of love from family members abroad who send us money from Europe to Cuba; one way or another, it reaches us through the banks. Cash has been blocked since October, and with a lot of effort, I was able to withdraw some. They owe me two quarters, and it's blocked by BPA.
I already left it and they don't publish it because they don't want to
Both in Europe and in Cuba, they squeeze the recipient who doesn't receive a single euro of what is sent to them. After all the deductions, what remains is given in MLC, which, contrary to its name, cannot be converted into any type of currency. Additionally, one MLC is worth approximately 100 pesos less than a dollar on the informal market.
I hope the Lord protects every Cuban because life is not meant to be so strict. Let's help each other; there are elderly bedridden, children, and people who, without these aids, please, why so many restrictions? Receiving is not a crime; it's love.
They have everything planned, right now they will verify the final destination so it doesn't end up in the hands of the narco-communist dictatorship.
Good morning, I agree, may God bless you
