Siguen en aumento las tasas de cambio: Precio del dólar, el euro y la MLC en Cuba hoy

Noviembre sigue trayendo fluctuaciones en las tasas de cambio del mercado informal de divisas en Cuba. Tras el aumento del euro en la jornada de ayer hoy sube igualmente el dólar estadounidense.

Lo dicho, este domingo, 3 de noviembre de 2024, el mercado informal cubano presenta un ligero aumento en la tasa de cambio del dólar estadounidense (USD). El billete verde ahora se sitúa en 326 CUP, tras un incremento de 1 CUP con respecto al día anterior.

Por otro lado tanto, el euro (EUR) y la Moneda Libremente Convertible (MLC) se mantienen sin cambios, valorados en 345 CUP y 265 CUP, respectivamente, todo ello según los datos publicados por elTOQUE.

Tasas de cambio y equivalencias útiles para cada divisa

A continuación se muestran las equivalencias actualizadas en CUP para diferentes denominaciones de cada moneda en el mercado informal:

U.S. dollar (USD) to CUP:

  • 1 USD = 326 CUP
  • 5 USD = 1,630 CUP
  • 10 USD = 3,260 CUP
  • 20 USD = 6,520 CUP
  • 50 USD = 16,300 CUP
  • 100 USD = 32,600 CUP

Euro (EUR) to CUP:

  • 1 EUR = 345 CUP
  • 5 EUR = 1,725 CUP
  • 10 EUR = 3,450 CUP
  • 20 EUR = 6,900 CUP
  • 50 EUR = 17,250 CUP
  • 100 EUR = 34,500 CUP

MLC to CUP:

  • 1 MLC = 265 CUP
  • 5 MLC = 1,325 CUP
  • 10 MLC = 2,650 CUP
  • 50 MLC = 13,250 CUP
  • 100 MLC = 26,500 CUP

The constant demand for foreign currency in the Cuban informal market, especially in an environment where access to foreign currency in the official market is limited, is a constant every day. This is another expression of the loss of purchase value and devaluation of the national currency, the CUP. Each increase, even if it is slight, can impact the costs of products and services since a good part of the goods offered in Cuba are in MSMEs, which buy abroad with the U.S. bill.

Relative stability

However, we can speak of relative stability. Although the latest variations in exchange rates are important, the margin between the national currency and the currencies is so large that one can speak of a stability of the euro and the MLC in the informal market.

This suggests a moment of relative calm in the demand for these currencies, although their values are still well above official rates, evidencing the high dependence of the population on this unregulated market.

A few days ago the official press reported a New means of accessing foreign exchange which are offered in dribs and drabs. For many Cubans, the informal market remains the only viable option for obtaining foreign currency, maintaining pressure on purchasing power amid an increasingly challenging economy.
