Russia increases flights to the Caribbean with Cuba as a connection point

Cuba will be the starting point for the trips that Russian tour operators intend to expand to the Caribbean. The idea is to also reach destinations such as Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

The company responsible for carrying out this expansion of flights to the Caribbean region is Intourist, which will offer tour packages that combine several destinations. 

For example, the current strategy designs the links "Cuba plus Mexico" and "Cuba plus the Dominican Republic." According to a market study, the company determined that these destinations are highly accepted by the current Russian market, published the news agency TASS. 

This idea gained more strength since last July 1st when the direct air connection between Russia and Cuba was restored. Travel between both nations expands exchange options and boosts sun and beach tourism on the Island. Regular flights are operated by the company Rossiya and include the Moscow-Varadero-Moscow route. 

Increase in demand for airline tickets

The Russian ambassador to Cuba, Viktor Koronell, told TASS that the demand for flights between both countries is very high.

La compañía Pegas Touristik, junto a Nordwind, establecieron vuelos desde Moscú a Varadero y a Cayo Coco. Hasta ahora los pronósticos de ocupación en los viajes se han cumplido, aunque los turoperadores no están satisfechos.

En tanto, los vuelos directos de Rossiya programados para septiembre tienen un costo promedio de 300 mil a 400 mil rublos para dos personas. Si convertimos esas cifras en dólares estadounidenses nos da un promedio de $3 300.00 USD a $4 370.00 USD.
