Last-minute information from the Embassy of Mexico in Cuba reports the closure of that consular office and changes in consular appointments. More details below.
The Consulate of Mexico in Havana is currently in the process of changing its location these days. Because of this, its officials have decided to reschedule several appointments that were previously scheduled. Essentially, those who already had appointments have them canceled and are now receiving new dates.
Since the end of 2022, the opening of a new Mexican Consulate in Havana has been carried out in order to modernize the attention to Mexican nationals living on the island. Another purpose is to optimize the services provided to the Cuban community, just as they indicate on their official website.
Through its Twitter account, the Consulate of Mexico has now informed:
The Consulate of Mexico in Havana will remain CLOSED starting Monday, September 17, 2023, until further notice. If you have an appointment scheduled during these days, please check your email where the new date of your appointment will be notified. Emergency phone number for Mexicans: +535286-9620.

An applicant for an appointment to legalize documents mentioned that their appointment was changed from September 11 to the 26th of the same month. The Mexican Consulate has now confirmed via email that the originally assigned time for the first reserved appointment will remain the same. Something similar seems to have happened with many others interested in carrying out procedures at the embassy.
The recommendation from the Embassy of Mexico in Cuba is that all people who had appointments these days check their emails. Through that means, they will be able to find out if their particular case was rescheduled or if it maintains the same initial date.
Change of dates due to the move
The notifications that have already been sent to the people affected by the date changes do not require further details. However, it does seem to indicate that the changes in the appointments coincide with the days the officials of the diplomatic headquarters will carry out the move.
It is estimated that before the end of the current month of September, all consular processes will resume at the new headquarters. The Aztec diplomats confirmed that the consulate will no longer be at Calle 12, No. 518 corner 7th Ave. Reparto Miramar, Playa municipality, Havana. The new address is Calle 18, No. 507, between 5th and 7th, also in Miramar, Playa.
For the time being, the diplomatic mission advises its users and individuals interested in receiving its services to stay informed of all information.
As expected, the moving process should be quick; any subsequent changes will be announced on its official website and its X account, formerly Twitter.
