Blackouts in Cuba today: 1,475 MW of power supply forecasted to be affected

The Cuban Electric Union has released in its latest report the current situation of the national electro-energetic system.

According to the informative note published on the company's official Facebook profile, the electric service was affected for 24 hours yesterday.

Being restored after 3:30 in the early morning today and it started to be affected again at 5:04 hours, indicating that for an hour and 26 minutes there was no service disruption.

The highest impact occurred yesterday at 8:40 p.m., with a peak of 1438 MW, coinciding with the peak demand hour.

Solar photovoltaic parks produce around 797 MWh.

Current situation in the country and forecast for today

• Availability: 1845 MW.
• Demand: 2310 MW.
• Current impact: 507 MW.
• For midday: 800 MW affected.

A availability of 1845 MW is projected for peak hours and a demand of 3250 MW, which would result in a deficit of 1405 MW and an estimated impact of 1475 MW.

The peak electricity demand usually occurs during the night peak, which generally extends between the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m..

With this information, another night of blackouts is expected in Cuba as has been happening for several months.
