Holidays in Cuba for 2024

It is important for you to know the non-working days in Cuba for 2024, whether you are a worker or you are interested in traveling to Cuba on one of these dates.

In general, during these dates most of the establishments remain closed, only the services of vital importance for the population such as medical, transportation, first aid, tourism and the private sector are provided.

January 1: Liberation Day - Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

January 2: Victory Day - Celebration of the victory over the Batista government.

29 March: Good Friday

March 25-29: (Week of school break in Cuba): Victory of Giron*.

May 1: International Workers' Day

July 25: Commemoration of the Moncada Barracks Assault

July 26: National Rebellion Day

July 27: Commemoration of the Moncada Assault - As it is a Sunday holiday, it is moved to Monday.

10 October: Independence Day (Beginning of the war of independence from Spain)

October 11: Independence Day Celebration

December 25: Christmas Day (Christmas Eve)

December 31: New Year's Eve Party

It is important for you to know that when national commemoration days coincide with a Sunday, it is carried over to the following day and is paid as if it had been worked according to the form of payment. Double payment is not applicable.

If national commemoration days and holidays coincide with a Saturday, no transfer is made and the labor and salary treatment provided for these days is applied in accordance with the approved work and rest regime.

In addition, it should be noted that Article 96 of Law 116 of the Labor Code states that certain national days and holidays may be authorized as working days due to social interest or force majeure, with the prior agreement of the employer with the corresponding trade union organization.

*During the week of school recess, all work activities in the country remain active.
