Iberia warning about money to travelers flying to Cuba

Travelers flying to Cuba are informed about the money they should bring. The European airlines, Iberia from Spain and British Airways from Great Britain, have issued a peculiar warning on this matter. We expand below.

According to the travel website, Preferente, this week both companies sent a message to these agencies to inform potential customers that American dollars are not being accepted at state facilities on the island. The American currency is only used for buying and selling on the black market, with inflated prices.

They must bring coins such as euros or Canadian dollars, among others accepted by the Central Bank of Cuba, in order to deposit them on MLC cards (freely convertible currency) with a view to making purchases in our country, precise esta información.

  1. Who is the one harmed by this? I wonder. I think that every foreigner who travels to Cuba knows what they have to bring. For us, the people, it doesn't matter if they bring American dollars, euros, or any other currency. The more they bring, the better for us. If they bring American dollars, it's bad for them, but good for us, because whoever buys them here in Cuba does so to go out and buy things to sell to us, even if they are expensive. Something the government does not do. This diplomat or chief, whatever you want to call him, of civil aeronautics should know that what he has to do is defend his own and forget about those he doesn't know. It seems to me, if he is a patriot as he wants to appear.
