The economic situation in Cuba and the poor nutrition experienced by thousands of pregnant women throughout the country have led some provincial governments to take "measures" to somehow address the shortage of food and protein during such a delicate stage. A situation that later complicates the birth and proper weight of the newborn.
This week, the Government of Matanzas announced on its social media that it will incorporate new products into its distribution and marketing system in the month of March, including some as aid for pregnant women with malnutrition.
“The 1749 pregnant women and the 1117 children with malnutrition diet problems in the province will receive a quail egg fillet and two mango creams also through the ration card,” reads the profile of Facebook of this government organization.
They add that they will also receive one kilogram of ground meat with the mentioned "booklet" and children with medical diets for low weight will receive "two packages of cookies." In the Caribe Stores, condensed or evaporated milk will be distributed to children aged 7 to 13 in nine municipalities of the province, except Ciénaga de Zapata, Perico, Calimete, and Unión de Reyes, where it will be distributed in the following months. Those same children will also be sold "four bags of Coral soda.
