In less than a month, all Cuban citizens wishing to enter the country will have to present a valid passport, according to the new provisions of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Hence, many are asking about the price of the passport in Cuba and the requirements to obtain it in 2025.

As of July 1, 2023, the cost of the Cuban passport was established at 2,500 Cuban pesos (CUP) for residents of the island. To apply for a Cuban passport, citizens must meet several requirements. The basic steps to obtain the passport include:

For people over 18 years old in Cuba:

• Physical presence of the applicant.
• Identity document: Updated Identity Card.
• Payment of the corresponding stamp stamps

For minors under 18 years of age or legally incapacitated persons:

• Physical presence of the applicant and a parent or legal representative.
• Identity document of the father, mother or legal representative.
• Minor's identity document (updated): Minor's Card (for minors under 16 years of age) or Identity Card (for those over 16 years of age).
• Consent form signed by both parents or legal representative to authorize the obtaining of the passport and/or departure of the minor from the country, with signatures of both parents or legal representative.
• In the event that one or both parents or legal representatives are out of the country for reasons of visit, residence, work or studies, a formalized departure consent document must be presented to the Cuban diplomatic or consular representations or any other authorized Cuban office.
• Birth certificate, letter of citizenship or a document issued by the competent authority, which certifies the identity of the father, mother or legal representative who is outside the country, together with proof of payment of the consular fee.
• If the father, mother or legal representative residing abroad is in Cuba at the time of application, his or her Cuban passport will be accepted as a valid identity document within the national territory.
• Payment of the corresponding stamp stamps.

In some cases, in the case of minors or persons who have lost their passport, it may be necessary to submit additional documentation to support the application.

The process of obtaining a passport in Cuba is carried out at the offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or at diplomatic and consular delegations for Cubans residing abroad.

It is important to remember that the Cuban passport is currently valid for 10 years for adults and five years for minors. In case of expiration, the renewal must be carried out in due time and form to avoid inconveniences.
