Although the Russian government continues to promote tourist flights to Cuba and has already announced the expansion of connections with Varadero and the reopening with Havana through the company Rossiya, the press in that country is warning Russian tourists about security incidents in the Caribbean nation.
A report of the medium Novostivl warned of "the traps on Cuban roads" for those Russian travelers who go on their own, renting a car on the island. In a way, the warnings are also aimed at visitors from Russia they buy packages that include rides on state buses.

More warnings to Russian tourists in Cuba
La información a los turistas rusos de visita en Cuba, señala que estos “deben preferir las estaciones de servicio confiables”, aunque no indica cuáles serían las mismas. También recuerdan que no deben dejar “objetos de valor en el coche en la gasolinera para evitar sorpresas desagradables”.

Russia aims to become the leading country sending tourists to Cuba in the coming years, surpassing Canada in that position. To achieve this, rubles can already be exchanged in Cuban banks and ATMs, branches of Russian banks are planned to be opened on the island, and even a hotel exclusively for Russians. Currently, the Russian companies Nordwind and Rossiya are flying to the island, to Cayo Coco and Varadero.
