Scholarships for Cuban students in Japan: these are the options

Do you want to start the year traveling and with a life and study project far from Cuba? Well, the Embassy of Japan in Havana has just published several options for scholarships for studies and master's degrees in the Japanese nation, and the most important requirement is that you are Cuban. We tell you more.

“We are already announcing the scholarship program for the fiscal year 2023 offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT) for specialties in Japanese language and culture,” state the representatives from the Japanese diplomatic mission in Cuba.

They add that "interested parties should carefully consult the program explanatory document to verify if they meet the requirements.

The call for the "Japanese language and culture" category is open until February 10, 2023. The requirements are: being Cuban, being a student of the Japanese language or a descendant of Japanese in Cuba, and being under 30 years old.

What documents are necessary to apply? An application form, location preference form in Japan, transcript, Japanese study, and enrollment. Also a letter of recommendation and a medical certificate. They explain that other documents and even a Japanese exam may be required.

The duration of this Japanese language scholarship is one year and would start in October 2023. Other interested parties who do not meet the requirements for this modality should stay alert as this Embassy offers many scholarships for Cubans. You can find it at this link.
