El turismo de compras es una práctica común entre los ciudadanos cubanos, especialmente aquellos que nombran como «mulas» que buscan adquirir productos en el extranjero para su uso personal o para su reventa en la isla. Estas son dos opciones para el turismo de compras para cubanos en dos países con facilidades de visado y con vuelos directos.

En la actualidad, países como Guyana y Surinam se posicionan como destinos atractivos debido a su proximidad geográfica y las facilidades en los requisitos de entrada. Además de los vuelos directos desde varios aeropuertos cubanos.

Los ciudadanos cubanos interesados en visitar Surinam they must obtain an electronic visa (eVisa) antes de su viaje. Este proceso se realiza de manera online, lo que simplifica y agiliza la obtención del permiso de entrada. La eVisa permite estancias cortas con fines turísticos, incluyendo el turismo de compras.

Procedure for obtaining the Suriname eVisa

To apply for the Suriname eVisa, Cuban citizens must follow these steps:

  1. Completar el formulario en línea: Acceder al portal oficial de solicitudes de eVisa de Surinam y llenar el formulario correspondiente.
  2. Documentación requerida:
    • Pasaporte válido con una vigencia mínima de seis meses desde la fecha de entrada.
    • Fotografía reciente tipo pasaporte.
    • Round-trip flight reservation.
    • Proof of accommodation in Suriname (hotel reservation or letter of invitation).
    • Prueba de solvencia económica para cubrir los gastos durante la estancia.
  3. Payment of the consular fee: Abonar la tarifa correspondiente al procesamiento de la eVisa.
  4. eVisa ReceptionOnce approved, the eVisa is sent to the email address provided during the application. It is recommended to print a copy to present to immigration authorities upon entering the country by flight.

  1. Unfortunately, the cost of the ticket plus the inflation of the USD in Cuba does not justify any profit, therefore I don't see how it can be considered shopping tourism.
