Corporación Cimex S.A. announced a project of 21 fast charging stations for electric vehicles throughout Cuba.
The initiative was presented in the context of the International Transport and Logistics Trade Fair (FITL 2025), according to reported the state-owned newspaper Granma.
Armando Isaac Ananias Laffitte, logistics vice-president of Cimex, said that the objective is to "respond to the global demand to mitigate the consequences of climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions".
In this regard, they announced the creation of a network of 21 fast recharging stations throughout the islandto "try" to satisfy the demand of the population and national and international tourism.
According to the information provided, an analysis of the average autonomy of a standard electric vehicleand another on the amount available in Cuba - some 49,605. However, this official figure from the Ministry of Transportation may vary because there are new incorporations that have not yet been registered.
Charging stations for electric vehicles in Cuba
According to Ananias Laffitte, "all these equipment currently have domestic charging systems". Regarding the possible locations of these charging stations for electric vehicles in Cuba, he clarified that most of them are located in Havana. In this regard, the project's first charging station will be located in front of the Sierra Maestra building, headquarters of Corporación Cimex.1st Ave., e/ 0 and 2, Playa.
Regarding the operating cycle, he clarified that it consists of a process that generates photovoltaic energy, which is stored and operated at the fast charging points. It is based on an intelligent management scheme with a working system and real-time control.
The aforementioned report mentions that they will be built, in a first stage, ten basic lite stations. They will have a surface area of 500 square meters, and will generate a daily energy of 600 kWh, with a storage of 122 kWh and two arms for recharging.
Overall, the project would cover four stages with 40 lite stations: 2,000 square meters of solar panel area, 24,000 kWh of daily power generation and 8,000 kWh of storage. All this would allow The total number of vehicles loaded per day is 800, including medium and large vehicles.

- La Dominica, Cimex and El Cano in Havana.
- Km 79 of the National Highway, in Mayabeque.
- Varadero, in Matanzas.
- Km 177, in Cienfuegos.
- Kilometer 259 and Cayo Santa María, in Villa Clara.
- Kilometer 336, in Sancti Spíritus.
- Cayo Coco, in Ciego de Avila.
