The Cuban government assures that it is working on the recovery of the national electric power system in the midst of a scenario marked by blackouts of up to 20 hours a day.
At a recent working session, the Prime Minister of Cuba addressed plans to improve the country's electricity infrastructure and reduce power outages.
According to a state TV report, the Ministry of Energy and Mines, together with the Electrical Union, has designed a strategy to "reverse the results of 2024".
One of the main objectives of the government's plan is the recovery of distributed generation and the modernization of thermoelectric plants.
Modernization of thermoelectric power plants in Cuba
The plan includes the expansion of photovoltaic generation plants. Two solar parks are almost completed, and the company expects to close the year with an installed capacity of 1,202 megawatts.
In addition, 55 photovoltaic parks with a total capacity of 10,000 megawatts are planned for construction by 2025. Starting in February, five to six solar farms are expected to be completed each month, with the goal of reaching 27 farms and 590 megawatts by July.
Another key aspect of the government's strategy is the recovery of generation capacity at engine and thermoelectric sites. The plan is to recover 850 megawatts in distributed generation, with 520 megawatts coming from diesel and 330 megawatts from fuel oil.
2025 projections: electricity in Cuba
Projections for 2025 include the planned maintenance of thermal power plants, investments in photovoltaic solar parks, the recovery of the supertanker base and the incorporation of the Herradura wind farm. Work is also being done to increase oil production in order to halt the decline and improve the country's energy conditions.
According to the aforementioned media, the authorities reiterated their commitment to the recovery of the electric system. In this regard, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz stated "he is convinced that this will be a much better year".
The solution if you put interest would be very simple using solar energy in the lines of 115 volts, the issue is that they want to do it, because the real generation without abuses of 1 megawatt does not exceed 1500 dollars of investment, so simple and installed in 48 hours, want is power, greetings from Spain I have my partner in Cuba and I am overwhelmed by this situation.
yes, it improves backwards like a crab.
how are they going to say if Felton 1 has just been out of service due to a breakdown it will be out of service for a month, i.e. blackouts will increase.
But what an improvement
Yessssss, he is on vacation !!!!
