The Consulate General of Spain in Havana has published recent information of interest to the Cuban and Spanish community residing on the island.
This Wednesday, for example, they updated on the restrictions in force on non-essential travel to the European Union.
In its message indicate that Order INT/657/2020, which establishes limitations on non-essential travel from third countries to the European Union and the Schengen area, has been extended until 30 November.
This measure continues to affect Cuba, which has not yet entered the list of countries without EU restrictions, where they are in America: Argentina, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay.
The validity of the restrictions implies that the Spanish Consulate in Havana will continue without To process short-stay, tourist or business visas.
This November 3, Cuban Directory echoed the information of the Swedish Embassy on the island, which alertó on the renewal of the temporary ban on entry to Sweden, for non-EU travellers, until 31 January 2022.
We will closely follow the news about the opening of the region to tourists from third countries, including Cuba.
APPOINTMENTS FOR SPANISH PASSPORT APPLICATION
On October 28, the Consulate of Spain communicated the modifications to the appointment system for passport applications through its website.
In response to the high demand for the passport application service, in order to facilitate the management of appointments for our users, from now on and until further notice, appointments will be posted one day of the week and starting at 8 a.m. Cuba time”, they pointed out.
En el caso de la Passport Renewal, it will work as follows:
The following will be able to make an appointment on Mondays: the third group (people whose passports expired between 01/01/2019 and 31/12/2020).
On Tuesdays, the following can request an appointment: the first group (corresponding to those expired in 2018 and between 01/01/2021 and 30/04/2021) and the second group (for passports expired between 01/05/2021 and 30/06/2022).
For the first Spanish passport application, this is what the Consulate established:
Every Wednesday will be for the third group, that is, people registered in the Civil Registry in 2021 until September 27.
The first group (registered in the Civil Registry in 2019) and the second group (registered in the RC in 2020) will be left for Thursdays.
The Spanish diplomatic headquarters in Cuba explained that "when the system indicates that there are no more appointments available, the offer of new appointments must be waited for the following week".
In addition, they clarify, "only in the week of November 2 to 5 and due to the time change in the European Union, appointments could be published from 7 a.m.
