Installment cars in Cuba? What Mercedes-Benz answered

Teachers, doctors and Cuban workers in general are asking for payment facilities after the approval of the sale of cars on the island.

This is what several users told the Mercedes-Benz branch in Cuba. "In any part of the world you can pay for a car in installments, there are even companies that, through an agreement, finance the payment of the vehicle and then deduct it from the worker with interest," lamented a Cuban.

"As long as these things are not done, as long as the Cuban's salary is ridiculous, these kinds of possibilities will only be available to an elite, a social class that does not respond to the majority of Cuban society," he added in a commentary.

The answer he received was as short as it was blunt: "Installment payments are not available".

The exchange arose from the presentation of vehicles of Chinese origin, BAIC, at the recently concluded Transport Fair in Havana. "BAIC X35, U5 and BJ40 vehicles are now available," the company said in a reel.

"They look very nice cars," said another person. "But until every agency does what the world does of giving the possibility of payment in installments, for all those people who work like doctors, teachers, I don't think the transportation problem will change," he added.

"We would very much like to have the availability to satisfy all offers and all customers," said MCV Comercial S.A. However, they reiterated that the full value of their cars, which amount to thousands of dollars, must be paid for.

Interested parties were reminded to register in the system. "You will be contacted according to availability," they specified to a customer. At another time, they suggested sending applications to atencion.cliente@mcvcomercial.cu.

The new Chinese cars to be sold by the Mercedes-Benz branch in Cuba are: BAIC X35, U5 and BJ40. According to specialized sources, each model is designed for different needs: the X35 as an urban compact SUV, the U5 Plus as a comfortable and technological sedan, and the BJ40 Plus as a versatile off-roader.

  5. Why do they put them there? Oh well, they are only for the big bosses. A Cuban's salary isn't even enough for a skateboard, let alone a car. What kind of thinking is that?

  6. PERO NO TENEMOS NI TRANSPORTE PÚBLICO.
THERE IS NO SALARY TO BUY CARS NOR IS THERE AN INSTITUTION THAT CAN FINANCE IT OR WILL SELL IT TO YOU ON CREDIT. YOUR SALARY IS NOT ENOUGH NOR DOES IT HAVE VALUE AGAINST THE USD OR ANY OTHER CURRENCY. ARE THEY DREAMING OR MAKING A FOOL OF US???

In practice, there is neither electricity nor buses, nor medicine nor food. We keep dreaming.

  8. Installment payments are only granted to natural or legal persons who can pay. In Cuba no doctor or teacher has a salary to pay for a car. In addition, financial institutions in Cuba do not offer security or reliability. They do not have the money to pay pensions to retirees.

    • The dictatorship has lasted 65 years. They are the only ones responsible for the herd of corrupt and professional thieves that the system has created. It is the only thing they have created, and they have plunged the country into the longest economic crisis in history.

Stop blaming everyone who was in power 65 years ago.

  10. it is even embarrassing that in Cuba cars are sold when in the municipality of sandino in the province of Pinal de Río there is not even a car to bury the dead, they have to bury them in the first thing that comes along.

  11. it is even a shame that in Cuba cars are sold when in the Andean municipalities in Pinar del Rio there is no car to bury the dead of the family, they have to bury them in a horse-drawn carriage or in the first transport that comes along, there is much to say about this.
