According to several specialized sites, Meliá Hotels International will continue to invest in Cuba and will manage a fifth hotel in Cayo Coco.
According to information from Tourinews, within the framework of the FITCuba tourism fair, the Spanish hotel company has announced that it will manage the Gran Marena Cayo Coco hotel.
The Meliá Costa Rey hotel, owned by the Gran Caribe Hotel Group, will take over the management of the Pullman Cayo Coco, the last hotel operating under the Accor brand in Cuba.
This establishment, located in Cayo Coco and rated 5 stars, will become part of the Meliá Hotels & Resorts chain under the name Meliá Costa Rey.
The president and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, told the media Your Excellencies Cuba that the recent Meeting of the Regional Commission for the Americas of UNWTO, held at the Meliá Internacional hotel in Varadero, "has been a great achievement".
I believe that things are being done very well despite the country's difficulties due to the embargo. And it is the appropriate tourism development model for me, he added.
Likewise, he acknowledged that "we have a lot at stake and it is the image of this country's tourism.
Meliá in Cuba
With a portfolio of nearly 40 hotels, Meliá Hotels International positions itself as the leading international hotel operator in Cuba.
This leadership position is reinforced by the company's ongoing expansion on the island, as demonstrated by the recent addition of Meliá Costa Rey to its portfolio.
The consolidation of Meliá in Cuba is evidenced by the signing of four new hotels. Two of them have already opened their doors in 2023: the Innside Habana Catedral and the Hotel Sevilla Habana, Affiliated by Meliá. These new establishments add to Meliá's extensive offering in Cuba, which ranges from luxury resorts to charming urban hotels.

More expenses on hotels and no investment in agriculture food sovereignty haha
The worst part really is those Meliá hotels and all the complaints you make at the hotel management, those foreigners who charge a lot to be there and do nothing because if a hotel is so bad, it's due to poor management. Dirty pools, dirty rooms, and the hotel in general leaves much to be desired, and the food is not even fit for pigs.
What they need to do is improve the conditions for those that already exist, buy food to offer in the hotels that are very expensive and there is no food, and long lines to access something. It's shameful how there is not even sugar in Melia hotels in Cuba.
