Cubans arrested in U.S. and Italy for theft and other serious crimes

En los últimos días, varias detenciones de ciudadanos cubanos han sido reportadas en distintos países.

While in Miami, three men were arrested for the theft of luxury glasses, in Texas, a couple faces charges for high-impact crimes. In Italy, a woman was detained after being identified as part of a group that stole expensive perfumes from a store.

Luxury glasses theft in Miami

In Florida, Xavier Pérez, 52, Lázaro Yansel Salazar, 27, and Alexander Trujillo Gómez, 48, were arrested after being linked to the theft of more than 3,500 sunglasses from brands such as Ray-Ban, Prada, and Gucci, with a value exceeding one million dollars.

Las autoridades rastrearon los envíos y lograron recuperar la mercancía en otro punto de la ciudad.

The arrests were made possible thanks to the cooperation of various agencies, including the Murfreesboro Police Department, Memphis Police, and license plate reading systems. The suspects used a 2022 Pacifica minivan, rented in Miami, to transport the merchandise.

They now face charges for theft of property exceeding $250,000, larceny, and vandalism. They are also being investigated for possible store robberies in South Carolina and Tennessee.

Couple arrested in Texas for serious crimes

In another case, a Cuban couple was detained in Texas in an operation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). They are Leiwin Lara Hernández, 23 years old, and Cleyret Pacheco Peraza, 22, who face felony charges in the city of Odessa.

The investigation began in December 2024, when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted about a multimedia file with explicit content shared on TikTok.

A special agent from the Texas Department of Public Safety tracked the information and managed to identify the minor involved as the daughter of the accused.

Perfume theft in Italy

In Italy, a Cuban woman was arrested after being identified as part of a group of three women who stole luxury perfumes from a commercial establishment.

The incident occurred in October 2024, when the suspects entered the store individually, pretending not to know each other to avoid raising suspicion. Then, they took the products and hid them in their bags before paying for low-cost items to disguise their actions.

The store manager reported the theft, estimated at around 2,000 euros, and the security cameras allowed the identification of the suspects, who are between 30 and 35 years old.

The authorities located the Cuban woman at her home in Italy, while the other two individuals involved, of Chilean nationality, were also identified.
