Starting January 10, Cuban Americans who have American citizenship will be required to apply for an electronic visa (eVisa) to travel to Brazil. This is just one of several measures established by the Brazilian government for U.S. nationals.
The positive aspect of the regulation is that the process to obtain the eVisa will not be in-person at Brazilian consulates. The authorities of that country confirmed that the entire procedure will be online, thus simplifying the process.
How to obtain a tourist eVisa for Brazil?
If you are an American citizen and want to travel to Brazil, follow these steps. It is a very simple process and completely online.
-Submit the visa application through the VFS website from a mobile phone.
-Execute the payment of 80.00 USD plus 0.90 USD for the service fee, using a credit or debit card.
-Download the electronic visa in pdf format, sent to the email once approved.
-Print the travel document to present it when boarding in the United States and upon arrival in Brazil.
Requirements for Applicants
If you choose this eVisa, you must meet certain requirements. For example, one of them is to travel to Brazil as a tourist and hold an American passport. The requested stay will not exceed 90 days.
It is advisable to consult the website of the Bureau of Consular Affairs of the United States Department of State and the VFS website. This way you can obtain detailed information and updates about the mentioned change.
As soon as you have the approval of your eVisa, you will be able to travel freely to the so-called "South American Giant." Which airlines fly there? Direct flights from Miami to São Paulo, for example, are operated by American Airlines and LATAM Airlines.
These companies operate between four and five direct daily flights to cover that route. The average flight time is 8 hours and 25 minutes. Additionally, other airlines such as Avianca and Copa Airlines operate on that route, but not with direct flights.
